Swallowing/Regurgitating Cigarettes - Is This Possible?

I always imagined it as a soft pack of cigs as opposed to a box, which can deform into a more round shape more easily than a box can. I figured it was also sealed with cellophane, which in the field can be opened and resealed with just a lighter if done carefully. Maybe wasn't a full pack though either because I just can't imagine a full pack of smokes even in a pack as opposed to a box fitting down even Solid Snake's throat. My theory is when they explained the nanomachines to him he figured out a way he could at least bring some smokes with him based on the side effects they described by not eating anything for a day or two, then suppressing his gag reflex long enough to make a slightly rounded and half full pack of cigs down into his esophagus, then slowly worked them down into his stomach by swallowing. Once arriving at shadow moses island, he would likely have swallowed some sea water and then forced himself to throw up, then he retrieves his smokes which are still sealed and thus safe from any damage.
