I never thought about it but someone in the comments of this video says that this suggests that Ocelot may have been the one sent by Liquid to kill Miller those few days before the Shadow Moses incident.

This is what I always thought happened-their uneasy relationship in V feels like its setting their trajectory towards that final point together. I feel like Liquid would have relished doing it himself though after seeing the level of disdain Eli had.

I always had the impression Liquid did it himself in MGS1. Not really sure why but it felt like something he'd be capable of and would take pleasure in doing, and the fact he managed to impersonate him well enough to completely fool Solid suggested to me that he had to have been at the very least keeping a very close eye on him before it happened.

It's a shame that he turned out like that. At the beginning I thought that the mother base and our soldiers could become a new family for Eli and his buddies. But in the end they all turned on each other.
