I thought Sutherland was largely fine (as far as I remember). I just think if you were going to do it have it make sense; it could've been a stroke of genius if it was implemented correctly.

I don't think there was any chance of that happening unfortunately. I remember being critical of Hayter's attitude around him not being cast again at the time, but only a few years later did we find out that Kojima had been actively trying to get rid of him for years and it clearly rankled with him. I mean he is Snake and always will be, but that was the beginning of Kojima really pushing to make connections and have Hollywood actors to be in his projects instead of voice actors, culminating in games like Death Stranding. We just didn't know it yet.

Isn't Hayter a prominent Hollywood producer too? Why did Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Ref get their cameos in the game but he didn't?
