Well done! Phenomenal photos. I'd love to hike if I had the time to properly acclimatise myself to it.
It started back when I was a little kid going on 'adventures' in the woods behind where I lived. The Marine Corps is what really got me into the long distance, heavyweight hiking. I loved every bit of it, and nowadays I try to do it often enough to keep myself sharp. I'm fortunate to live in an area now where I can freely roam with a rifle pretty much wherever I want. Back in January I went ice climbing up the tallest mountain in Wyoming. It was a 46 mile hike and took me about 6 days to get up the mountain and down again. The wind was absolutely ridiculous and the chill got down below -60 degrees. Every minute resting was spent in a tiny ice cave I'd dig on the side of the slope. Sounds shitty, but there's something about that kind of stress that makes you feel alive.
It's funny that I can deal with pretty much everything the elements and nature throws at me, in all climbs and places, but the moment I get home I start freaking the fuck out over bills lol. The consequences of the Industrial Revolution and all that
Man I'm jealous. Haven't had a hike like that since I lived in Colorado. There's good hiking near me, but not good weeklong hikes. Everything you described sounds wonderful tbh.
