I stopped after like two episodes of season 4. It wasn't bad, it just didn't grip me and I don't remember what happened in those episodes. I thought it peaked in Season 1, two was still very, very good. Three was decent but ended with a whimper. I'll catch up at some point. Gen V season 1 felt better than the majority of "The Boys" at one point and I never got round to the second season of that.
I get it. Season 4 definitely became a lot more heavy handed in terms of the satirising of the MAGA cult, and does sort of rely more on shock value than nuanced writing.
Still find myself too invested in overall arching narrative of "Let's kill Homelander" to stop now though.
How did you find the finale? I've seen an unholy amount of bitching about it and season 5 in general.
The bitching is over the top. Season 5 was a slow, meandering season of television where the writers clearly ran out of steam and it felt like they were just spinning the wheels to get to the finale, but I feel like it ultimately stuck the landing.
It was a perfectly fine finale. It certainly isn't a damp squib on the level of a GoT or Stranger Things. It was a tad predictable, but sometimes "predictable" is the right thing to do. I don't think I'd have been particularly thrilled if they'd thrown in any last minute swerves considering what we've been building towards since the 1st season.
