I figured i might as well type out this story too, because i guess it could either be spooky or funny depending on how you look at it. I happened to mention earlier that i was into rune magic, and idk how much i really told people on the forums about that but i was pretty serious about it. But yeah around the time i first joined MGSF i was in a really different state of mind. I felt like i had some dark spirit or a demon or something following me, and i wanted to find some way to protect myself from that. I figured if I learned enough about runes and rune magic i could make something work to keep this dark and oppressive thing at bay.
I was reading books on it enough that i felt like it was time to start practicing actually "channeling" the energy of the runes, as one of the books described it. so i was sitting on a couch with a blanket over my legs and chanting this chant that was supposed to tune you in or whatever. I did it a while but nothing seemed to be happening, and i was also getting nervous because i really didn't know what i was doing. i got up to go to the kitchen for a second, letting the blanket fall to the floor when i stood up. the moment when i came back into the room, a tree frog hopped out from under that blanket.
i know i probably didnt summon a frog, but at the time it kinda creeped me out a bit and i was really wondering exactly what was going on. either way it was kind of an odd coincidence. after a while though i tried again, this time i made a basic talisman from an index card and wrote my runic equation on it that i had come up with. and yes i charged it the way you're supposed to for such stuff, I'll just leave it at that.
so i hid this talisman above the front door in the frame, where no one would see it but it could still do its work to protect the bouse. after that I got kinda hungry so i went to use a little griddle to make a sandwich, yet all of a sudden it didn't work anymore. it had inexplicably stopped working while just sitting there, only a few hours after the last time i used it. another weird coincidence , but at this point i was getting freaked out because like in that show fullmetal alchemist you have to do a sort of equivalent exchange for this type of magic. you're required to sacrifice something for it to work, supposedly.
so i started feeling like okay this thing is going to like maybe take random stuff from me even if it does work, and i cant afford to be replacing stuff all over the house. besides that, what if my next experience with it requires me to sacrifice something even more expensive, maybe something irreplaceable. i couldnt logically or in good conscience keep experimenting eith this stuff while also having no real idea what i was dealing with.
I ended up burning everything in a fire pit in the back yard and stopped messing with anything like that. this many years later i know it was all just a series of conincidences that got stuck in my head and freaked me out, but im kinda glad i didn't drive myself insane trying to cast magic spells for real like I just walked out of skyrim. anyways it's probably not really spooky, but i figured i might as well share it.
ive been listening to a lot of art bell radio shows recently and that sometimea does have spooky stuff in it. i might come back sometime and share some stuff from the gigantic archive I've made, along with some more interesting stories.
