Fox Hunt thread

Still haven’t gotten to try the mode out, but I have one concern… How long can they keep this going without crossplay? Surely they have to enable that to have a healthy player base and for matchmaking’s sake. Don’t believe MGO have the playerbase to survive on three (?) different plateorms in the long run?

Anyways looking forward to trying it out. Just gotten our second child, so time to sit down and play games is not something one can do too much these days😅

It would have been great if it launched with crossplay but given Konami's history with online systems and matchmaking I'm not surprised at all that it hasn't happened. MGO2's Konami ID login systems was an utter disaster and became a nightmare for a lot of people and meant the time it took to get from the main game screen into an actual match was an age. For some reason I've been playing eFootball since 2022 when it launched, and Konami teased crossplay for that not long after its release, and only finally delivered about 6 months ago. To be fair it's been smoother than I expected but they literally took years to do it. 

I am curious how the numbers are looking on this after the first week though because I think it will be a concern. I think the way they've launched it is understandable but they're setting themselves up to have people drop in and drop out fairly quickly given the late release, lack of content and platform restriction. Then again MGO2's numbers probably weren't great either, but it had a consistent playerbase that stuck with it for a long time. But that was confined to one platform.

um it's a two player game? Just set them up in another room and there's hours of parent child bonding sorted!

For real though what console are you on? Would be good to get a few of us in a custom room at some point.

it's actually the first game to get a foxillion players!

I do think the way they've launched it is very poor. Much like Delta the communication leading up to release wasn't strong and they prioritised Japan-that video explaining the mechanics was only available in Japanese until like a week before release! I also think there's not enough content to maintain a player base-releasing 2 months after the game did won't have helped the install base either. A lot of people sell games on after they beat them and won't have even had a chance to get hooked on this. It's not like the game case or menu especially publicised that an online mode was coming, you just had to be someone following the pre-release promotion.

One thing they have done to help is give Delta an official price cut a week before Fox Hunt released. But as you say, they have hardly advertised this mode well. Maybe that's an active decision until we see updates to it with more content. At this stage while I'm having fun playing with you and will with other people I know, that's about the only hold it has on me right now because the rotation is too small to keep me wanting to go back every day (not that I have the time to).

Praise Konami! They said that sometimes these end up having bits and pieces that are never used but hopefully we see most of this and soon. We need some big team modes.

Sure, would be fun! I’m on PS5. Manage to sneak in a couple of games tonight, and so far I like it quite a lot actually!

Had my first solo GA-KO (is that mode called intrude?) win last night. Nate died early on because he's terrible. I managed to get through most of the rounds by the skin of my teeth; I had some good gear at points but kept getting killed and losing it so for the final round I only had a basic weapons and no items. I got to the zone first but didn't activate the GA-KO. I instead laid on top of a container with AT-Flower equipped to look like some creeping foliage and let everyone else amass and activate it. Nobody noticed me and it went into overtime with three other players inside the zone. After the firefight I finally stood up and took out the sole survivor. Sent out a snarky thumbs up to add insult to injury.

When stuff comes together the mode is a lot of fun-but the combat needs a lot of work still imo. It feels sluggish to me. Not that I want the headshot-favouring level of MGO2 but yeah.
