Why is it so hard to stick a TDM in there? The game also doesn't have cross-platform play, so it's dead on arrival.
Hide and seek type games will have no longevity, even though they have clearly put a lot of effort into the octo-camo thing. When you play a game for a certain amount of time, you can't help but know how every pixel is supposed to look on a map. Over time the non-camo team will be op against the camo team.

I think every team has access to the camo at all times unless there's some new info I've missed. The AT-Camo is sort of the focus of the sneaking element, is there an asymmetrical team mode in this you've read about or are you just assuming it'll work like TSNE?

My bad, I thought it was just TSNE but with AT-Camo instead of stealth camo. I'll watch the walkthrough video.
Just realized I'm going to have to crank the res down to 720p to have decent framerate in multiplayer X.X

I'm personally quite excited for this one. I haven't touched a multiplayer game in years, so something that captures SDM from MGO2 on a larger scale is exactly the kind of thing I've been jonesing for. I also love the prospect of getting to unlock skins of the whole MGS3 cast just aesthetically as well. I imagine this being more akin to AC2 Brotherhood style of multiplayer as opposed to something like MGO2 or 3, and I don't mind that. Honestly, a big part of why I soured on MGO2 and MGO overall was because, after a while, everyone was playing that game the same way; quick box-equipping and headshotting with the same weapons over and over. No variety in how other players approached things, no real tactical feeling combat, just these weird twitch-y exploits that made the game really dull for everyone who didn't want to play it one very weird and specific way.
I wouldn't mind if MGO4 comes back properly in a fuller Metal Gear game release, but only if they do away with the annoying exploits and quick headshot nonsense. Metal Gear combat is supposed to feel more tactical than just running and gunning, which is what I'm hoping Fox Hunt delivers on. If nothing else, the levels look great and I'm eager to unlock all of the cosmetics and run around as my favorite evil Bee Man.

By the time I played MGO2 this was the entire meta. Combat wise I tried focusing on CQC, sniper rifles, shotguns, tried to find the niche I enjoyed, but I never got anywhere as I was just insta-killed constantly. I know most online games devolve into this quite quickly but MGO2 definitely left me feeling like I was trying to play the game a way that never had a chance...I was also just bad at it but how was I meant to get good when I just died to box popping constantly?!

It was easy to exploit that for sure given MGS4's aiming system. Unfortunately most competitive games (shooters in particular), devolve into something along those lines with a very specific meta from an early stage. Konami never doing anything about cheaters was just as annoying as the exploits.

Anyone play yet? Got a sliver of time just now. Played one match of the capture the area mode (GA-KO) and two of the capture the item mode (Kerotan).
It's... OK. Not really sure I see it hooking me in this current format. You're paired up with another player and matches have 12 players and then have to qualify through rounds (so players get eliminated each time) until the final one. The GA-KO one I didn't like, it's essentially Call of Duty Domination. Just didn't feel like it felt right in an MGS game. Early rounds there are lots of areas to qualify so you can likely end up just sitting in an area by yourselves waiting for it to end, at the end you have everyone converging in one area on top of you so it ends up in a shootout and the game's mechanics don't lend themselves well to that.
I liked the Kerotan one more, felt like you can use stealth more although again later rounds narrowing the item numbers down means you often end up in one area. I really don't like the "Snake Sense" thing either, feels like you're relying on that rather than your eyes to find people. Thought I only played 1 map in total and it felt very small and narrow, bit too small and narrow.
One thing I'll say is I imagine (hope?) more maps and modes will come down the line, it feels like that has to be the plan anyway given some of the AT-Camo options. I do like how they've done that, you can only have preset options selected so you can't just auto blend in with every type of area, some are exact and others aren't so specific but it gives you room to really nail your ability to hide if you get it right.
Perhaps I just need to play with some of you to enjoy it more, the randoms I played with were mixed (first guy great with good communication, others either didn't communicate at all and lone wolfed it or just barely moved.

Managed to get into one game which was all the Kerotan mode. Placed 2nd, my teammate communicated well and we mostly stuck together. Didn't realise they'd get eliminated unless both of us had the kerotan on the penultimate round.
Since then it's been nothing but network errors. Loaded into one match but it was just 30 seconds of a wall in the jungle before another network error.
A lot of it doesn't feel very Metal Gear. Stuff like the character looking at their arms when you equip a skin just feels too much like 'other games' (that feels like a stupid point but I hope you get what I mean).
There only being skins and not proper customisation removes a lot of incentive compared to something like MGO2. I also don't like it in place of stuff like unique characters. The Boss has 1/5 life regen and 1/5 stamina recovery? She's supposed to be The Boss! (I know it's just a costume in canon but it's just a bit flat compared to UCs). The loot crate type rewards are a dull way to unlock stuff too. But hey, I've only played one match!
Naked Sense seems a bit lame and compared to something like SOP in MGO2 I don't like how weird and gamey it is without any sort of 'explanation'. Snake can't do this, why can random FOX Recruits! It doesn't really feel like MGS3, which makes sense as it's...not.
