Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
#51
I started playing yesterday at 9PM. I had a C-level presentation the next day at 8AM. I could not drop the controller until 3AM.

That should tell you what a monumental achievement this game is. Surprised me every which way, and I usually fucking *despise* turn based games.

It's funny how many people I've seen say that now. I guess being able to parry and dodge helps.

My only critique of the game is the power levels are a bit off. I know some people say oh it's a single player game who cares, but progression is critical in RPGs; and you get meaningful progression by keeping a decent challenge through out the game. If the player gets to the point where they have to purposefully handicap themselves; or getting new skills/abilities means nothing then it really hurts a key extrinsic motivator in the game.

The combat is still fun because the parry/dodges scratch a specific itch in my brain, the moves are all beautifully animated and you can get pretty creative with how exactly you break the game (I have a character that gets 7AP per basic attack, heals 10% per turn, and can play twice every turn).

I just finished Act 2. Dying to see how this wraps up.

New update: it has now sold 3.3 million copies.

Quote:Thirty-three days ago, we released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Since then, we’ve sold 3.3 million copies.

Seriously. As of today.
We couldn’t make that up.

Another entry on the long list of surreal moments that your support has made real.

Thank you ALL.

Just finished it.

I’ll need to chew on it a little and to let the high come down but this might be genuinely one of the best games I’ve ever played. Bare minimum one of the better stories in games in the past 15-20 years.

I’m doing the endless tower now. Last two trials are absolutely horrifying.

Finished it finally. I have many thoughts and feelings. What an incredible experience with an ending I really didn't expect.
