I'd seen it before and it's a phenomenal movie but there was a live jazz band playing during the movie. Their job was to "embelish" the movies score with improv jazz but it honestly ruined the experience. It's such a shame because it's a great movie and I love love LOVE seeing movies on film.

Hopefully I can catch it again some day without the score.

I saw Blade Runner with a live performance of the OST alongside it once and that was done seamlessly but yeah this sounds like a really strange choice to go with.

4K release for this (and other John Woo movies) is on the horizon, feels like I've been waiting an age for it. I hope Shout do a good job with it, haven't watched too many of their transfers yet but I know a lot of people were hoping anyone else got the rights to the Golden Princess catalogue, but it seemed like it just wasn't ever going to happen so let's hope they do these movies justice.

I wouldn't have minded if it was a live score session but I guess since they couldn't mute just the score on the film print that "embellishing" was all they could come up with. But why did they even need to have a live band at all? Is screening the movie on an original film print not special enough already?

I heard something about his older HK movies not being available on Blu Ray for so long was due to them being tied up in some complex rights issues. it'd be really cool to see more of his stuff so I'm just happy if they get released at all. It beats torrenting old DVD rips imo

Anyway I saw Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning today. It was pretty dope but there were some pretty large gaps between action scenes, more so than Dead Reckoning. All in all, a pretty good send off to the series, assuming they don't cave and make more some day.

Watched Get Out last night, thought it was great. Very tightly paced and keeps you on your toes.

Just watched the first episode of the second season of "The Rehearsal." Is anyone watching or aware of this show? It's the most unique thing going. Null you're a Nathan Fielder fan, right?

Not watching it but I love Nathan Fielder. Unfortunately most of his projects aren't easily viewable here.

I'm two episodes in and it's mind blowing. I will try and get the rest watched ASAP because the finale is apparently amazing. Sail the seven seas to watch it, if you can.

Double post!

Just finished episode 3. This is the most insane television ever financed and I have no idea how Fielder got HBO to bankroll this at all, let alone in an age of cuts.

I saw Final Destination Bloodlines last night.

I haven't seen the older ones in ages but the deaths in Bloodlines seem way more over the top than what I remember from the series. I think they're definitely having fun with it at this point. The movie wasn't very great but it had some creative kills, in typical Final Destination fashion.
Seeing Tony Todd was pretty damn sad, the dude is a legend and this was one of his last performances before he died, and you can tell he wasn't well just by looking at him.

The whole experience was a bit ruined by the couple in the row behind us making out the whole movie, I'm pretty sure they were even fingering each other and sucking dicks at one point which is fucking trashy as all hell. I kinda wanted to throw rubbish at them and tell them to knock it off but I'm not all that confrontational

That's crazy, never heard of people doing that in a cinema with others around. Then again perhaps I'm forgetting myself a bit from years gone by, but only in an empty theatre!

I'd be a bit more forgiving if it were dumbass 17 year olds or some shit because kids do dumb shit but I'm pretty sure these people were my age, if not older.

Rewatched The Greatest Showman. Forgot how incredibly cheesy and caricaturish it was. Certainly brought me back to that summer it came out and Leelee and I saw a trailer for it when seeing something else and decided to see it on release day, not realising it was going to be completely packed given the interest in it with people like Zendaya and Zac Efron starring.
