What's your MGSF story?

He got one from Invisionfree we called Metal Gear Fanzone. It didn't really take off and so we went to join another website where my friend knew a guy who helped him with MGFZ's skins. That site was called Metal Gear Solid Forums. It wasn't the one where I met all of you though. It was a different one I thought would remain only in my memories until I found a link to it in the wayback machine. A different MGSF if you wanna see. The old Invisionfree forums were so snazzy. It had some drama go on between its two admins and, like I would with the later orgs on the actual MGSF, I took internet drama seriously. The drama led to the root admin banning the other one and locking the site down. Both admins made new sites and I joined the not forum locking one.

I was aware of our old MGSF at this point, but hadn't joined. Seemed like the largest forum ever with how many members it had. Then I saw the old root admin from the other MGSF had joined Pricey's and was wanting to affiliate with him to increase his site traffic. I saw it as my duty to prevent that so I joined up on MGSF in 2006 at the age of 12 to tell Pricey not to affiliate. Of course, being undercover from my old admin I needed a new forum name. I saw a username named Red Queen and decided to do that style username. Black was one of my favorite colors and I liked chess, so I picked black king.

Eventually I fell out of their drama and I think their sites shut down. I stuck around Pricey's MGSF just to have a forum home and made a bunch of polls and such to increase my post count because post count is a big deal. Applied for Dead Cell saying that I thouhgt it was cool and I'd be honored to join one of MGSF's oldest orgs. Got a PM from Red Queen with a lecture on how MGC was actually older  Rolleyes Didn't get in.

Even on the old MGSF at that point I'd always felt more tolerated than liked on the forums. Then I got an invite from NINJA to be a founding member of an org. I accepted so I could finally be in a cool kids club. This guy believed in me and gave me a reason to stick around besides the love for MGS and the hype for MGS4; a game I wouldn't be bale to play anyway on account of going green for Xbox.

That org would eventually be TSF and I'd get a new green button beneath my username. TSF, like all new orgs, got its hazing. Mostly from MGC, DC, and Red Queen in particular it seemed. Eventually got this legendary thread out of it. The org business and the friends I made on MGSF kept me coming back. A lot of you played a decent role in some of who I am today since I was on the younger side on those early days. Especially your humor and references. I've used some of those in real life.

In short, I got involved in forums to keep up with a friend after a long move, got sucked into some drama, and stayed by making new online friends in my new house.
LMAOOO WAIT WAS RED QUEEN THE SAME PERSON AS DIAMOND QUEEN? the tension between her and that one pretentious dude with a Spec Ops The Line avatar went crazy.

You mean to tell me I've been sharpening my knife all this time for nothing?!?

Nah to be honest dude if we did ever argue it's long gone from my memory now! Was I pro or anti pony at that point though? A strange time.

I signed up to MGSF in 2007 when I was 13. Because I was excited for MGS4 and wanted to get as much information about it as I could before it's release. Made a few posts, never understood MGS2 until I had it properly explained to me in a thread I made, I'm sure. Applied for MGC and got rejected, of course. Applied for Night Ops after and got accepted . Lurked around in there for a while and got bored and decided to make Foxhound, just inviting any name to get that magical 15 members initially. But we got there eventually

Had no clue about graphics, running a community or anything really until I started foxhound, so I can thanks MGSF & Foxhound for unlocking my average photoshop skills anyway! I did enjoy my days learning photoshop and creating graphics etc. Got known as the spam org because we had an active private forum haha. Then Nate joined and helped us steer ourselves in the right direction and engaging with the forum as a whole. Enjoyed our nights doing Podcasts but absolutely hated editing them after. I was glad when A Big Crocodile said he'd take over doing it (is anyone in contact with him by the way, or is he here?). I was dead proud when we eventually won best organisation though, the shitty org I started when I was 13 had become a 'serious org'.

Become a moderator of off topic first, and later a global moderator. Always enjoyed my time as a mod tbf the free blowj staff forum and fellow staff were always superb though.

I started to go inactive once I started work at 21. I struggled to look at the forum on my phone and just started going on the computer less until one day I logged on and didn't see a soul and it been taken over by ads.

Since then I've worked a few different job around construction, working on site as a plumber and in the office for a bit, but currently I'm off work to renovate my house which I bought in 2023. Looking to do something different jobwise once it's all complete but don't know what yet.

MGSF Holds a special place for me, I'd spend endless hours just chatting to so many great folks, and more endless hours learning photoshop and audacity (neither of which I use now mind you) I'm convinced MGSF was the reason I went from bottom set to second set English in secondary school.

Reading all of your posts got me thinking about that time, and I went back and looked at my old profile, Black Cat.  I can't actually access that account anymore though since I have no idea what email it's registered to now.  None of the ones I still use or have access to anyway.

I guess I joined in 2011 after lurking for quite some time, looking at threads and profiles, trying to understand the community since it somehow seemed different there than really any other forum I'd been on.  I remember reallyyyyy liking the dead cell graphics and actually had hopes of joining that org in the back of my mind at first when I started posting on MGSF.  I was at a really troubled time in my life at that point but didn't really realize it, and didn't have the perspective to understand my own issues or the tools to actually work on them.  I'm sure I said some pretty out there/cringe stuff though but eh I guess it happens when you're young lol.

Truthfully though, I never had real or good friends who actually cared about me up to that point.  I was used to people using me and mistreating me or even abusing me.  When I got on MGSF though and started talking to people that didn't really happen.  In fact, it felt like some of the friendships I was building with people were actually real and positive and uplifting.  It was something I wasn't used to and didn't know how to react, so I guess I was unfortunately hostile sometimes with people since I was unaware of how to be a decent friend, but I would learn over time and part of my growth as a person was having a lot of friends from MGSF just kinda stick around all this time.  Genuinely love you Suede and Null, I'm always here for you, and apologies to anyone I forgot to name here right now. :3

I've gotten a lot more in touch with my emotions, and learned a lot about myself since the old days, but there's still much work to be done.  I want to be around on this forum though and try to stay active and keep up with everyone.  I'm really happy this forum is a thing, it's very reminiscent of MGSF in the before times and it makes me feel very happy somewhere deep inside my brain.  I'm just so not used to typing stuff out like this anymore lol, I normally just do short form messages to friends but this will be a nice change of pace.

All of you to me have been there while I've been going through life, and I feel a deep sense of respect for all of you as I've had the opportunity to chat and just shoot the shit and get to know a lot of you.  I really want to help this community shine in whatever way I can.

I think we were both pro pony at the time, and it was a strange time for me as well. Not exactly anti pony these days but my interest completely died hahahaha

Is the brony "movement" even still around any more?

I remember when you started doing plumbing you had the sickest jacket with like built in gloves and I've been chasing something similar ever since.
