Question about one of the mission objectives, and davy crockett.

1. so kruchev said this to president of united states:
"You must catch The Boss yourselves and recover the remaining nuclear device" but did we even retrieve that? and why doing it?

2. why the boss used the davy crockett to wipe volgin's military base? why it's important the the united states? after all the shagohod was destroyed...so why bomb the place?

The second Davy Crockett was to be retrieved due to the fact that the first caused such immense backlash from the Russians with it being an American weapon used on Soviet land. It was a political nightmare and Volgin proved himself too dangerous to be left in possession of one, so to save face with the Russians and to prevent Volgin potentially using it it was included as part of the mission. The Boss, still working for America in reality, likely used the second one to definitively destroy what had been a productive research facility up until that point. It was clearly an undesirable outcome for the Soviets as is shown by Khrushchev being disappointed by its destruction, this was likely an order from the US to The Boss to try and scrape back as much as they could out of Operation Snake Eater before her death, since she was already labelled a war criminal and there wouldn't be too much blame on them so long as they dealt with her afterwards.

another thing is why if ocelot changed the microfilm that eva got to a fake one, and he took the real one, then why snake holds a third microfilm near the end?

Sorry, when is Snake holding a third one? My understanding is we only see one during Operation Snake Eater. The fake one which EVA stole from Snake when she left the recording about The Boss. Ocelot had replaced it with a fake early on, so even when Volgin shows it to us it is already the fake, I believe-though there's no confirmation on that I suppose.

also i would like to ask this question again from mgs 1. because i do not understand it even after you and others explained it to me.

Why did FOXHOUND need Snake if Baker already knew about the PAL system? I’m trying to better understand FOXHOUND’s plan in Shadow Moses, specifically regarding Decoy Octopus, the DARPA Chief, and the PAL system. From what I understand, Kenneth Baker already informed them about the existence of the PAL card system. However, Liquid also says they initially tried to use Snake to obtain information by having Decoy Octopus impersonate the DARPA Chief. This is where I get confused: 

1. If Baker already told them about the PAL system, why did they still try to extract additional information from Snake through the DARPA Chief (Decoy Octopus)? IF they lack specific operational details, why not just get it out from baker? 

2. After Decoy Octopus dies, FOXHOUND continues to rely on Snake to figure out how to use the PAL card. If Baker already revealed the system’s existence, they again could just get thew relevant info out of Baker. 

My current assumption is that FOXHOUND only had partial information (e.g., the existence of PAL), but not the full activation process, and therefore needed Snake both as a source of information and as a tool to carry out the procedure. But if they have Baker...why use snake.
