Rate the Song Above You - Dirty Duck - 11-04-2026

Thought this might be a nice way to share some music and maybe find some new faves. Just listen to the song posted by the person above you and give your thoughts on it and a rating-out of 5, out of 10, it's up to you.
Anyway, I'll kick things off:

RE: Rate the Song Above You - SK8R LUNG - 12-04-2026

like it. i know for sure @Null has shown me this guy before. reminds me of the best of like mid 00's bedroom indie. like american analog set with a bit of wild nothing's wavey guitar

this is a song that i got from zoast (the super metroid speedrunner). he would always play it at the end of wr runs. so to me it just has this complete sense of joy and release to it.

a great example of the "FM Funk" style, with a bit of latin influence in there as well

Yeah really nice. Super video gamey-reminds me of something out of Mega Man but nicely elevated. I'll give it a 7/10.

Here's one I revisit every so often that was used in the background of a scene of Girls (2012).

Girls always did have a really good soundtrack, that’s a solid tune. 7/10.

I’ve had Jane Removers side project on repeat a lot recently. This song in particular has been getting a lot of spins.

oh whoops, missed this. maybe it's only available in canada 🤦🏻‍♂️ lame. it was "Locust Valley" by Women, still recommend it if you can find it on Spotify

this vibe brings me back to my undergrad days 😭 that electro style with the whooping vocal thing.

i've been really into Nondi_ lately, in a kind of "whoa music can be this??" kind of way. so i'll recommend this track, "Orchid Juke". it scrambles my brain to think about how someone would arrive at this kind of rhythm. it sounds like the different parts are in completely different tempos, yet somehow they fit together. plus i like the kind of scratchy lofi character of the samples

lol yeah just had to change my VPN to Canada to see the one you just posted. I like the calmer melody a lot-the more blaring one is interesting but I wish it developed a bit as the song went on, that element felt a bit half baked. It does remind me of a lot of Aphex Twin's less digestible stuff though, nice track.

Samples one of my favourite Charli XCX songs and I like the high energy EDM blended with the screamo-y vibe.
