Anyone finished it? How long of a game is it? I’m hugely tempted to scoop it up now despite the huge amount of other games I’m currently playing

I see I got to you eh?  roy

The story isn't too long, especially compared to other JRPGs, you could probably finish it in around 30 hours, I took a bit longer since I did some other things and was around maybe 40-45 hours before I hit the credits.

To be fair I hadn’t heard of it at all until your thread!

Well I do have a week off coming up, maybe I can get this finished alongside everything else

I curse all of you and your abilities to finish games quickly. I'm almost 20 hours in (which is a lot for me at this stage) and I'm not even half done.

I agree. Also about 20 hours in, just about to finish Sirene. Been doing a lot of grinding and a lot of world map exploration which is slowing me down. Feels like between the lost gestrals, chromatic enemies that I ignored and "danger" dungeons that I've been getting whooped, I've got a lot of shit to be getting back to.

Also, this is one of the very few JRPGs I've played where EVERY character is useful in combat. I have my favourites of course, but I've found myself swapping in and out characters way more frequently than normal.

Just used stendhal on one of the end game optionally bosses and it killed it in one hit so that skill is still super powerful.

Just started on Act 3 now.

Edge's review is in, they gave it a 10.

Quote:If an RPG is measured by the temptation to explore elsewhere before heading to the next objective, this is as great as any. We stall for hours finding and investigating one magical environment after another. It's bliss.

In a way, though, that lure creates another conflict. We're so enchanted by treks off the critical path that, by the time we refocus again, we've often levelled up beyond our objective. Some bosses, fanfared as epic adversaries, fold before we've broken a sweat. True, you can always mitigate the imbalance by sticking to your assignment until the credits roll. But that's easier said than done when the visual pull of an unexplored biome, its musical accompaniment and the battles it promises are so magnetic. And as tempting as it might be to suggest fixes for the problem, it also feels rather impudent to request alterations to a masterpiece.

RE: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Bread - 20-05-2025

Finally finished the game.

GOTY for 2025? To put it bluntly, one of my favourite games of all time. Just a phenomenally emotional rollercoaster, with an intricately woven plot, incredible lore and an array of unbelievably deep and interesting characters. I haven't been this invested in a game's plot for a long while, and extra kudos go to the voice cast who, alongside Red Dead Redemption 2, might have just provided the best collective voice performance in gaming. Ben Starr, for all his silliness on social media, is supremely talented, and I just hope he doesn't become Troy Baker'ed where he gets so famous that he plays the same role in every game.

Think they nailed the combat as well, balancing issues aside. The mix of turn-based combat and real-time dodging/parrying never got boring. All 6 playable characters have their uses, but I finally landed on a favourite trio who ended up never leaving the party. Lune best girl.

I would die for Esquie.

I see people finally got this as the highest rated game of all time on Backlogged lol.
