Tbh I can't remember exactly what Roy said but I always found anything "controversial" that he said hard to believe since he loved winding people up especially in serious threads
I think our gauge of 'older members' might be perception, that wasn't the vibe on the board with the people who I interacted with - but again, I think I was sliding into inactivity when you had joined. The thread I found the people who I remembered (with the exception of Roy, which I was surprised by), were, by and large, on the side that I thought they would be. Granted I only read the first three pages.
as for the MGTOW crew, I remember Novitch was expressly on that train but I always assumed he was just like a dumb kid with a huge language barrier so I think he was just easy to influence. I think Intandem was on that path too/
The big totem pole shift happened in around 2016 when people were like ''wait maybe slurs are bad and women are good'' and it just didn't sit right with a lot of the older members who were still on that 4chan early 2010s internet grind.
I literally had to google that. That probably says quite a lot about my online presence in messageboards/forums etc in the mid 2010s and onward. I've always sorta eschewed that. I wonder if that was one of the reasons I ended up being less active on MGSF.
And for them to circle round to "oh we agree they should be banned but but but it's because the people who complained were pals with the staff" was such a reach.
