MGSR was announced before even Peace Walker, so I doubt they had anything workable in that regard. It was probably a modified version of whatever engine MGS4 ran on.

Man it wigs me out that it was announced that long ago. One of those realisations that will make me look in the mirror and suddenly be able to see every wrinkle on my face.
I was there for the countdown man. Watching it with bated breath in the ICT Suite. The fact the finished project is not only a completely different game but is now over 12 years old…

HL3 although I have heard whispers that things may be moving in the depths.

I went through the big thread again for old times' sake recently. That was a wonderful period with all the little updates and symbols that would appear or flash on and off at different stages. So much hope and expectation. Raiden is Sunny. Raiden is Raiden. Raiden is Grey Fox. Raiden is Sunny again. Then came Peace Walker.

That was the website with that spooky mask that changed depending on the time of day, right? I was positive it was a death mask of The Boss. And considering how Peace Walker turned out, I wasn't too far out! But it was actually Castlevania. Still, that was the dual-announcement of Rising (or was it Revengeance at that point?) and Peace Walker. Probably the best one-two punch of Metal Gear announcements since Twin Snakes and Snake Eater together in '03.

And yes. Old. So damn old.

Oh man original Rising, never thought a trailer of cutting a melon would sell me as much as it did. Thank god revengeance turned out great or I’d be so salty

The other half life game that "got away" was the version of hl3 that was being developed in 2013. hopefully hlx doesn't suffer the same fate...

That was the end stage of that website I think once Rising and PW were revealed. It started off early on as an image of a field with a grey overcast sky and was like that for quite a long time, then the countdown ended and new ones kept beginning but things changed like symbols or numbers appearing, along with flashes of lightning I think.

Beginning:

Close to the end (with "the sun, [it"s] Rising again"):

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 3. They had some development going with concept art of planets and a new party character. Link for proof

The cancelled Deus Ex game that was going to wrap up Adam Jensen's story and directly lead into the original game will always hurt.

I saw an article recently where one of the writers of Mankind Divided hinting at where the story would go if the game had gone ahead only added salt to the wound. There's always a possibility that we'll get another DX game in some form but I can't help but feel that the ship has sailed on finishing Jensen's story

There was a KOTOR remake in the works too. Some sources have said it's still in the works although things have gone really quiet on it so I'm not so sure, I was sure one insider said he heard it was barely hanging on as a project a while back too. Maybe if that ever sees the light of day this might end up going somewhere but it does feel like a stretch right now.
