No graphical setting should arbitrarily override the original art assets. It's one thing to toggle things for performance - level of detail, antialiasing and all. But letting AI rampantly override the intended aesthetic is BS. Leave that for mods. Deliberate alterations by the end user. That's fine. But a graphical checkbox (or worse, a mandatory setting for consoles) that lets some algorithm redesign the look of a game is really, really weird.
