Today marks 10 years since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released.

A lot of us discussed our thoughts on the game back when it released on the old site but after a decade I thought it might be nice to get a bit retrospective and discuss what we think of the game now that it's older than Portable Ops was when it released.

Have you played MGSV since its release? As time's gone on have you found your opinion of it has grown or diminished? Is it a game you still think about or did you find you moved on from it quickly? How do you think the industry has changed since it's release, for better or worse?

I don't have time to type up my thoughts right this moment but thought I'd get the OP posted to give everyone a chance to mull it over!
actually im typing this after playing it on my xbox 360 like half an hour ago
i played it like 4-5 times through all these years , and wandered around the maps and locations like sooo many hours and did almost much of of the side quests but dude, its never gets old , when i played it for the first time i was in middle school and i got flu with high temprature fever i remeber i was a mess but even then i played the game for like an hour through fever and intence body ache and other symptomes and it made me forget i had those symptomes then , and till this day its one of my beloved memories in my life despite being a mixture of flu and mgs:pp and of course flu and cold medicines  Big Grin Sleepy

Sounds weirdly immersive. Like you're struggling to complete the mission despite being infected with your own strain of the vocal cord parasite. Reminds me of when I went to see a Pirates of the Caribbean film while having scabies.

I do really understand the feeling of relishing the memory despite not being in good health. I finally figured out the reason Snake was randomly dying in Portable Ops when I was bed-bound for weeks after standing on a plug. He was dying because his stamina was depleting-which I didn't realise at first because the death animation and sound is exactly the same as when he's shot to death. Once I figured that out I could actually play the game and played it all over those weeks. If it wasn't for me being stuck there with only Portable Ops to entertain me I may never have ended up on a Metal Gear forum to make this post reminiscing about it! Thank you, rogue upwards facing plug on the floor! Cookie Monster
