How much did Kojima's work make for Sony over the years. MGS1 was in the top ten PS1 titles sold of all time. Ditto MGS2 for PS2. Snake Eater in the top twenty. Peace Walker and Portable Ops (productions count!) in the top twenty for PSP. Guns of the Patriots? Top ten PS3.
I don't know if the numbers are out there, but I *know* that MGS4 bundle had to have moved a lot of units.
Come to think of it, the only Sony console I own that I didn't buy explicitly because of a Kojima game was the PS4 - and Death Stranding was still a factor in pulling the trigger.
They're throwing out a spiritual successor to Metal Gear by the original creator - worse, giving it away to the competition. That and the physical media thing and their poor handling of communication after the fact. The tone-deafness is astonishing.
