Here's a two-for:

Well you know Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid...but did you know Donner and Blitzen mean thunder and lightning in German?

In fact the German word for Thursday is Donnerstag. Thursday's English name came from Thor...Thor's Day! Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday are also named after the Norse pantheon.

Got my ancestry results this morning.

Spoiler:
I am 100% whelmed. It's exactly what I thought it'd be considering what I know of my family. They were absolutely not travelling to a place where they could not complain about the wether. I knew I wasn't getting anything interesting like 1% Polynesian or anything, but I did secretly yearn for some travelling Lithuanian (LithuWaynian?) circus performer to somehow have snuck is way in there, but alas.

I'm impressed that you're likely more Irish than I am! My missus has said she's wanted to do this herself for a long time even though she's convinced she's basically the same as you (possibly with the inverse ironically given her dad's name and how much time he's spent in the UK).

Was worth the entire day spent making it (you have to boil it for 7 hours!) as it was cool to set it on fire even if nobody really enjoyed eating it.

Light it on fire too? Sounds like a fruit cake meets a baked alaska. Should've taken a picture Duck.

I made a pie for my coworkers the other day. They were my guinea pigs to see if I'd make one for my family's Christmas get together.  Big Grin
