Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - bigboss88 - 04-11-2026 THE RULES OF A MAFIA GAME: MEMBERS — TOWN: MODS — MAFIA: PROLOGUE: Once upon a time, there was a place called MGSF. A humble Metal Gear Solid forum where friendships were made, arguments were endless, and people took fictional military conspiracies far more seriously than their actual lives. Years have passed. The old members have grown older, supposedly wiser, and somehow even more dysfunctional. Now they’ve reunited, along with a few familiar moderators, to settle an important question: Who really owns MGSF? Three moderators. Eight members. One game of betrayal. Welcome back to MGSF. Please keep the arguments civil. The moderators are armed. DAY 1 THREAD: Cooking with Mr. Tibbs: Your roles had already reached your inbox except for Annoying Prick. Contact me so I could give you your role. The game will start at 3 am GMT time. @Roy @Null @Dirty Duck @black king @Roger @Aragorn @Annoying Prick @Agent @weavo @Mr. Tibbs @starschwar Hope you all enjoy the intro I created. We never lost control! 😉🫡 RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - starschwar - 04-11-2026 Okay, that video is awesome. Leaving the whole AI debate elsewhere... how the hell did it know how to render the Red Eye Beret properly? That thing is niche even by MXO standards. It was a reward few people ever wanted or wore, used by NPCs that were phased out for a redesign after a year or two, and the significance of the shape of its decoration was actually a subtle hint at a twist years in advance. It shouldn't be getting that right. RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - Dirty Duck - 04-11-2026 (Yesterday, 08:53 PM)starschwar Wrote: Okay, that video is awesome. I spent not less than 16 hours on those 2:50 minutes! 😅🤣 RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - starschwar - 04-11-2026 (Yesterday, 08:58 PM)Dirty Duck Wrote:(Yesterday, 08:53 PM)starschwar Wrote: Okay, that video is awesome. It shouldn't be getting that right. You'd be surprised! As technology improved (Graphics cards, the next Windows version), the game rendered incorrectly. I'm not joking. People who installed Vista had new graphical bugs, people who got newer GPUs had lower frame rates. Only fan efforts (that I'm unsure can be discussed here)... as of now... are starting to make what was once MXO play well with modern tech. RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - Annoying Prick - 04-11-2026 1988, the year Chuck Russell's The Blob released. I'm guessing that's the theme? Try PMing me now, my inbox was full. @bigboss88 The intro is fire by the way, love it. RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - starschwar - 05-11-2026 Some other movies of note from 1988: Rambo III, an obvious heavy influence on MGSV's Afghanistan portion. Die Hard, influential on the action genre in every medium, but especially the notion of one character having to sneak and fight his way past a large number of heavily armed opponents. Twins, wherein Arnold Schwarzenegger was created in a genetic experiment that left his inferior genes in the form of Danny DeVito. I feel like this "we don't need to try too hard" comedy may have been the inspiration for Liquid. 1988 also marked the year some obscure video game called Metal Gear got its first North American release. But it was a buggy NES port of an allegedly superior MSX game from Japan. First impressions are important, so needless to say nothing of consequence came of this forgotten title. AVGN did a decent episode lampooning it, I guess. RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - Aragorn - 05-11-2026 This is fucking hilarious. Sublime work BB. Should have had Intandem as a mafia role, though. I hope he’s Okay wherever he is. First, I wanted to do a Shadow Moses theme, but I then I thought that I really missed you, guys! Especially, after playing with you all in the last game and interacting in the other thread. I really did miss our wonderful community in my life. It was a real part of us all. So, why not make this tribute to this wonderful place. It was when I came up with this theme and idea. And yeah, in case you guys hadn’t noticed, but the game had already started! 🤣 @Aragorn@starschwar@Annoying Prick@Dirty Duck@Roy@Null@weavo@black king@Agent@Roger RE: Mafia 1988: MGSF Legends - Dirty Duck - 05-11-2026 (10 hours ago)bigboss88 Wrote: I remember Intandem!
