Favorite unused idea / cut content? - MGWSpike - 02-08-2026

There were various proposed ideas that never became a reality during the development of MGS2. Or content that ended up being cut either because it was boring, didn't make sense or because of self-censorship following the 9/11 attacks.

They're gathered in this article. Here's the info as a partial list below:

Spoiler:

Is there any concept you regret not making it into the final game? Or do you think they wouldn't have improved the game?

Personally, I would have liked to see the original Female Ninja concept.

A subject of the S3 plan has questions for you.

Anyway, some of those ideas are so different that they may as well have been a different game. The only ones that would leave MGS2 still recognizable as MGS2 are the eleventh hour cuts due to tragic real world events. And while I respect Kojima for choosing to tone down things due to the circumstances of the time - it was the empathetic thing to do - I think enough time passed by the time of Substance - and especially the HD and Master Collections - to have the option given to restore the original vision.
