I do not understand ocelot plan during the games. nor that of solidus. can you help? - ahln1239 - 28-05-2026 So in Metal Gear Solid 1, Ocelot was working for Solidus, who wanted Metal Gear Rex in order to defeat the Patriots or something, right? If so, then why was Ocelot doing all of that if he was also working under the Patriots? What exactly did the Patriots want from Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid 1? What was their goal during the Shadow Moses incident? Then Ocelot spreads Rex’s data on the black market. But if he was working for Solidus, why would he do that? And why wasn’t Solidus angry that he leaked the data? And most importantly, if Ocelot wanted to bring down the Patriots, then why the hell does he help them in Metal Gear Solid 2 and betray Solidus?! I’m seriously, seriously confused. RE: I do not understand ocelot plan during the games. nor that of solidus. can you help? - black king - 28-05-2026 Ocelot's motivations are complicated. Also, I don't think Kojima had his entire motivations mapped out from the start of the series. ![]() The Patriots weren't a fully united front since the Les Enfantes project cloned Big Boss. They split into Big Boss's faction (himself, Ocelot, and EVA) and Zero's faction (Zero, Sigint, and Paramedic). Oceloet remained loyal to Big Boss's side of the Patriots. He thought he could use Solidus to get closer to the Patriots so he went along with Solidus's plan to engineer the Shadow Moses incident in MGS1. Solidus wanted REX to use against the Patriots but it was destroyed and his Sec of Defense was working with the Patriots to neutralize everything. Solidus also believed the Patriots were 12 people instead of AIs. Ocelot hoped Solidus would expose the S3 plan and the AI patriots. His goal was to eliminate Zero's branch and the AIs that Sigint had created. Also, I don't think Kojima had his entire motivations mapped out from the start of the series. From what I understood from the wiki (as much as it is possible to understand it), Ames helped stop the Secretary of Defense because the Patriots did not like the idea of the Secretary blowing the place up. If that happened, they would not be able to cover up the Metal Gear incident properly. Therefore, when Campbell contacted Solidus and asked him to stop the Secretary of Defense, he probably agreed reluctantly because that was also what the Patriots wanted. After that, Ocelot — who had helped Solidus during the events of the first game, probably as part of his efforts to bring down the Patriots — seemingly agreed to cooperate with the Patriots again and use Solidus for their S3 Plan. Because of this, they allowed him to do what Solidus wanted as well, which was spreading Metal Gear technology onto the black market so they could generate enough money to finance the S3 Plan. What feels strange is that Ocelot agreed to this and helped them during the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. According to the wiki, the money generated from selling Metal Gear information on the black market was later used for the Patriots’ S3 project. |
