Buddy Initiative: Member Recruitment Drive - Dirty Duck - 30-03-2026

We've recently hit 200 members! This is great, but only around 50% of those signups have posted. So in an attempt to bring in some new recruits that are more likely to get involved in some discussion we’re doing something I'm calling
The Buddy Initiative
The idea here is that everybody asks somebody they know to sign up to the boards. Maybe they like MGS and would want to get involved in the Metal Gear section, or maybe they like things that aren’t MGS and would want to get involved in the Other Talk section; those two sections contain the sum total of all human interest so there should be something for everyone!

To incentivise this we'll be having a giveaway that grows in value the more Buddies that sign up. I'm hoping we can get some quality members this way, and hopefully enough will sign up that a few of you can buy that game you haven't been able to justify just yet!

PRIZES:
  • Winning Prize: a gaming gift card up to £125 in value.
  • Runners-up Prize: a gaming gift card up to £62.50 in value.

ENTRIES:
  1. Get a Buddy to sign up to the site. Have them post that you referred them in this giveaway thread and you will both gain an entry into the prize draw.
  2. A first place winner and two runners-up will be chosen when the event ends.
  3. They can claim their winnings as a gaming gift card of their choosing (PSN, XBL, NSO, Steam). It will be distributed in a 50/25/25 split.
  • Every Buddy that enters the draw grows the prize pool by £5 (or the equivalent in your country).
  • There's no limit to how many entries you can have-the more Buddies you get to sign up, the more entries you get.
  • Buddies can invite Buddies of their own to receive more entries.
  • Members who have signed up to Philanthropy Membership will have their entries doubled!
  • While there's no cap to number of entries to the prize draw, the prize pool is capped at £250.

The event will run until June 1st, at which point the prize pool will be calculated and winners randomly picked from the prize draw. Happy hunting!

This is a deep cover psy op by Max to get everyone outside, making friends good enough to share that they're MGS fans and killing the forum by giving everybody an active social life so they never post again.

I have mentioned MGSF and this place to closer friends before. None of them were MGS fans, but they thought it sounded kinda neat the way I described it. My dad could never get MGSF's name right. Always called it MSGN or MGSN for some reason despite knowing it was a site for Metal Gear Solid fans. 

My mother knew the acronym most of the time, but when she couldn't she just called it "the website with your British friends."   Rolleyes
