Film chat - NateDog - 22-03-2025
What upcoming movies are you all looking forward to or interested in? I kind of have a bit of an empty window in the next few months from what I can see after seeing Mickey 17 recently and loving (despite most not feeling the same way). I am interested in Sinners though and might catch it.

Only thing on my radar at the minute is that Ballerina. It's out in cinemas on the week of my birthday, and I do enjoy a John Wick, so feels like an easy day out.

I’ve been off to a far less cinema filled start of this year compared to last. Can’t actually think of any upcoming releases that I feel like I need to see off the top of my head…
I’ll see Minecraft but that isn’t out of any sort of feeling that it will be good LOL

Honestly, films which will be coming this year haven't grabbed my attention much so far. I'll see The Monkey almost out of an inexplicable compulsion to watch Stephen King adaptations, and I'm looking forward to seeing Flow (which I think is maybe out for a wider release, rather than limited, this weekend?), but otherwise there isn't much I'm really pumped for. Have some I do wanna see though.
I'm intrigued by Fantastic 4, 28 Years Later and Mortal Kombat 2. Fascinated that the latter two are getting made at all really, but I hope they surprise me.
Also will see Megan 2.0 lol.

Karl Urban as Johnny Cage and an actual Tournament has me semi interested in MK2. I've also read an alleged leak which if true greatly enhances the film.

Got it to watch with my friend I grew up playing MK with but lowkey forgot we never watch films and so here we are years later having still not seen it.

There's some good stuff and it's probably worth watching before the new one but it was a bit lacklustre by the time the credits rolled. I believe MK 1995 to be the better Mortal Kombat film even if it's dated, cheesy as fuck and some stuff comes from nowhere for the sake of it.

A surprise, but a welcome one to be sure. Hoping this means we'll get to see something more akin to his older works like Incendies and Prisoners. I have a lot of love for a lot of aspects of his Dune movies but I really like his grittier, more intimate movies.

Have yet to see either Dune film (or Bladerunner 2049 for that matter), but Prisoners and Arrival are 2 of my favourite films of all time, so I can definitely get behind this.

I'm pretty happy with that choice. I don't think I've disliked a film he's done so far.
