MGS2 plot question - Agent - 05-10-2025
Hello, i've been playing MGS2 recently and I noticed soon after Raiden's entry into the big shell, he meets a Navy SEAL (lieutenant junior grade) called Iroquois Pliskin. However after the introduction this character never appears again, for the rest of the series as far as I know. Is it to be assumed he was killed on the big shell? Is he an important character in the story? I want to make sure I have it all straight as i'm sure part 4 will wrap things up in an intelligent way. Thanks!

Probably just a throwaway character like Kojima is known for doing. I always thought he died on the Big Shell but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd decided to bring him back anyway the way he did with Meryl. An MGS4 with Pliskin could have been cool.

Yeah I thought so too, but then I saw a character in Death Stranding 2 who looks quite similar, so it may be a shared universe thing. Much to unpack.

I think it was confirmed Pliskin was killed by Fatman's bomb. Snake later stole his uniform to blend in with the SEALS and escape Solidus's notice.

I've read theories over the years that that person wasn't really a Navy SEAL and is actually Solid Snake in disguise. I don't buy it though, seems a little too outlandish for me. Imagine someone going to all that effort to impersonate someone like that and not even making the effort to learn the correct motto.
