Hollow Knight - Dirty Duck - 23-08-2025 So after hardly any news for years and years Team Cherry dropped a trailer revealing that Hollow Knight: Silksong is out within the next couple of weeks. Hollow Knight is one of my favourite games and one of the best metroidvanias. I’ve been poised for news on this sequel since it was initially announced as DLC back in 2018 so I’m very excited. Have any of you played Hollow Knight? (You should!) RE: Hollow Knight - Bread - 23-08-2025 Considering that the release date is 2 weeks away, they had a really excellent opportunity to just shadow drop this and watch as everyone loses their minds, and they blew it. Do you still have the EDGE subscribers cover issue I sent you? RE: Hollow Knight - Bread - 04-09-2025 I played about an hour or two of Silksong on Gamepass today. I'm probably going to leave it there for now. I was never a big fan of Hollow Knight which I put a decent chunk of time into, and this does feel like one of those "more of the same" kind of sequels rather than doing anything outside the box, which isn't a bad thing by any means, but it is giving the vibe that if I didn't like the first game, there won't be anything here to change my mind. I'll keep an eye out on reviews in case I'm wrong and critics point out that it becomes radically different after a certain point, but until that time, it's one I'm skipping. FWIW, I don't have anything against Hollow Knight specifically, it's just the genre. Metroidvania's have always been a genre that I've struggled to get into barring 1 or 2 rare exceptions. RE: Hollow Knight - Dirty Duck - 05-09-2025 I’ve just purchased it and it’s downloading. I find it amazing that it’s <£17 in this day and age. I saw an article saying “The price of Hollow Knight: Silksong is controversial, is it not expensive enough?” which is hilarious. I’m always impressed by the restraint of indie devs when they could have easily got away with charging more without turning most of their audience off. Despite it being a game I’ve waited years for I may hold off on starting it. I’m currently playing Donkey Kong: Bananza, Delta, and DS2 when I have time at home. I don’t want to overcrowd it else I’ll not finish any of them but I’m working away soon and Silksong will be taking up a lot of evenings I feel. (We’ll see if I stick to my plan or whether I’ll just start it tomorrow or something lol) RE: Hollow Knight - Wayno - 05-09-2025 I still need to play the original, but I've hardly touched Delta. I've seen lots and lots of ardent pro piracy people say they refuse to pirate the game because of the price alone, let alone the lack of DRM. The devs know what they're doing. |
