A few months ago I went down the memory lane after running into that forum and it's been a blast reading through some of the discussions. Would be nice to have access to it from here, just prevent new posts.
Not sure how viable that would be.

I imagine that's possible, but it might be a bit resource-intensive. 15 years or so worth of forum posts might be too much for the servers that this site is currently running on. It's been done before, there was an old forum called TOTSE that shut down ahout 15 years ago, some of the users set up a site dedicated to archiving everything that was posted on the site, but that took years to set up i'm pretty sure

In fairness, unlike totse, the old forum is still up, just stuck with a terrible UI, so maybe it would be less difficult to set up than I originally thought...

Fluxe tried to get the data from MGSF for ages but these free forum hosts sort of keep your stuff hostage to keep you there. MGSF was massive for Zetaboards and the last thing they wanted was us breaking off from them. It’s a big reason why MetalGearForums is self-hosted. Everything we do here is ours.
I’ve been working on making an archive of some MGSF stuff on here but TapaTalk (the new hosts that ruined the site) do everything in their power to prevent you getting anything off of there. So it’s time consuming and there’s no guarantee it’s even possible. It’s also not top of the priority list-but it’s definitely on my agenda. I’ll figure out a way to do it that works one day soon. But until then as st3ve said the old site serves as the archive. I did initially ask Fluxe if we could use the MGSForums domain for this site but he made the point that it exists as an artefact now and it’s there for anyone who wants to see it…even if it’s very hard to use lol

We tried for years to scrape everything off MGSF, it was a shitshow
