Favourite fighting style in Metal Gear Rising? - Jassassino - 24-07-2025 In MGR:R, there's a lot of different weapons to shoose from - of course, the katana subtype is the classic, and everybody will probably play through the game once or twice hardly changing from it, but it's got plenty of choices too. Here's a quick rundown of them all:
Personally, my favourite pair (if I were to choose a best and second best) are the High Frequency blade (particularly the FOX Blade if you have that unlocked) and the Sai. Both have that classic "CYBORG NINJA!" kind of feel to them, and let you play in a varied way which I always thought created a lot of fun in the combo system. RE: Favourite fighting style in Metal Gear Rising? - Dirty Duck - 24-07-2025 The HF Blade is obviously where the game’s system are best utilised but I thought Bloodlust worked really well as a “heavy attack” to compliment the lightning fast katana play. All of the weapons were great to play around with and it’s cool them being the bosses weapons rather than just random unlocks. If we ever saw MGR2 what new weapons would you guys like to see? I’d love to see Raiden with a pair of hook swords. I think it would work great with MGR’s Zan Datsu and could be utilised in fun ways with hooking enemies or parts of stuff to launch or incorporate into your attacks. Could also imagine a cool cyborg boss using them. Yeah the HF Blade obviously lends itself really nicely to the core gameplay, and I think, like you said, Zan Datsu being built around it as an idea is really cool. It's fascinating to see a blunt weapon in this way like the Polearm being part of the same gameplay system. I'd personally love to see a few more blunt weapons if we ever got MGR:R 2, the nunchaku and a pair of tonfa (or maybe even arnis/kali/eskrima/ sticks? The latter could be a really neat way of potentially doing no-kill runs at the expense of damage output or something) would be highlights for me. If I had to choose a few new bladed weapons, I'd love to see a naginata (As long as it could be differentiated from the polearm, which it definitely could IMO) or wind and fire wheels. I think a boss weilding a set of wheels could give us a good parallel to the kind of boss fight we have with Monsoon. |
