New Style or Legacy Style? - Dirty Duck - 24-06-2025 Which do you guys plan to launch into when you first boot up the game? https://x.com/genki_jpn/status/1934629666868101351 I personally think I’ll be going for New Style without the Legacy filter even if I’ve thus far not been very impressed by the art direction of the remake. Might as well experience it in its pure form to properly experience it and decide whether I like it instead of trying to have it emulate the original which I could just go boot up if I really wanted to. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - NateDog - 24-06-2025 I'd say I'll go with the new control system and use the filter to make it look like the original. I do love top down view but think it's quite cumbersome in MGS3 in particular at times. I last played it on the Vita in the HD collection which was decent but awkward. I could really enjoy a much smoother experience this time around. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - Dirty Duck - 24-06-2025 I actually think I’ve only ever played MGS3 with the original camera style. I would have played bits of Subsistence on the HD Collection and the 3D version but I never did complete playthrough of them. I do think fixed camera is a really great limitation to have in stealth and survival horror games and I do miss them but like I said I think I should experience Delta the way the devs intended. So I can complain about it afterwards, you see. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - Solid Spartan - 25-06-2025 I'm glad they're including both, because just one would potentially turn one side of the fanbase off. Me? I'll probably play both ways, since I have no trouble going from MGS4 to MGS3 and back again. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - starschwar - 25-08-2025 I'll be playing with the new style controls/camera (ideally, with the controls remapped to be similar to Phantom Pain if possible). I replayed Subsistence via Master Collection recently, so I'm good when it comes to the classic controls (but I will always have a fondness for the pressure sensitive original original). And I don't think I've ever wanted to go back to the overhead camera since 2006. However, I will be using the Legacy color filter exclusively on my first playthrough. It looks wrong without that yellow tint. It's like when they toned down The Matrix's famous green filters for the 4K version. That said, on my second playthrough, I intend to use the default filter in conjunction with the Peace Walker DLC suits. To me, that will represent Venom's "memory" of the events depicted. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - Rising Shine - 25-08-2025 Gonna do New Style first, then Legacy Style. Both bring a trophy anyway on PlayStation. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - NateDog - 25-08-2025 I think I'm actually going to go with legacy controls because I read the layout for the new control scheme and it looks bizarre. RE: New Style or Legacy Style? - Silent Assassin - 25-08-2025 New first. I played Subsistance with the new camera too. |
