I have a PS5 Pro now, lol. Had a bit of a windfall, so I splashed out, and I am stunned by the upgrade. Luckily, my TV is good enough to handle all the doo daas.

Playing Spider-Man 2 mostly. I was really up on this game at launch but replaying it I kinda feel short changed, haha. The story beats are epic and the web wings were a nice traversal mechanic but it could've been so much more. I have high hopes for Wolverine and Spider-Man 3 though, as they're likely doing my favourite SM villain.

I've started Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne, but in my move from hell I've been unable to play much recently. What I did play I enjoyed a lot though.

I got a new job as a delivery driver for a packaging company and so, throughout the day, I have a lot of time for my mind to wander. I keep thinking that I really should get properly into Red Dead Redemption 2 - I've started it and played for a few hours, and I can feel that the game is clearly very good and has a great deal of craftsmanship behind it, but Christ it's slow. I'm really not a fan of Rockstar's habit of making characters feel more and more like they're wading through molasses just moving anywhere, and holding buttons down to interact with certain NPCs or objects as a mandatory part of gameplay.

Yeah I've been told that game is amazing and I know a lot of non-gamery types who have said it's the best game ever but the sort of over-commitment to realism doesn't interest me so much. I still need to play the first one to be fair so I'd sooner get to that! Have you played Death Stranding? I think my mind would constantly be going to that game if I were working as a delivery driver hahaha

Funny that RDR2 comes up, because I've literally just finished playing RDR1 for the first time last night. Been in my backlog for 15 years, finally glad to get it ticked off.

RDR2 holds a special place in my heart, in the sense that it is a game that I'd consider to be the most flawed 10/10 that I've ever awarded. Because yes, it has pacing issues, and it can be slow, tedious and boring. But I've never been as immersed in a game's lore, writing, dialogue, world building, characters and storytelling as I have with this. Literally could not stop thinking about this game months after the credits rolled, I don't recall that ever happening to me.

I'm still thinking about New Vegas 16 years later.

Hey gang, guess which sick guy is emulating Pokemon Platinum for the first time, and just accidentally saved over his only save state at the title screen instead of loading.

Brb, going to scream into the void. Only at the 2nd gym but don't rightly know if I have the heart to restart.

Love Platinum though. It’s one of my favs. I’d probably suck it up and go through it again and just make a few different choices to make it feel like a new run or something.

I actually only ever played Pearl. The price of re-entry was too steep for me as a youngun I suppose. Do want to play it one day for sure as Sinnoh is my fave.

I only ever did one playthrough of RDR II. But that playthrough was special, man. I played it over the course of a month while I stayed with my dad in Glasgow, and him and his partner watched me play from beginning to end, amazed as I was. I started a new playthrough a few days ago, though, this time on SteamDeck!
