Absolute peak early 90s sci-fi, it's like Roland Emmerich made a light gun arcade game into a movie. And yeah they don't do anything to explain the accent lmao.

Don't know how I never ended up watching JCVD, read the synopsis and I'm definitely giving it a watch this week, thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't seen Last Action Hero since I was a kid, I'm giving that a proper watch too. Definitely a victim of its time; by '94 American audiences were burnt out on Arnold in action roles, which is so incredibly ironic given what the film is about. Pretty sure it was Tina Turner's last acting role as well.

Y'know who else loves Universal Soldier (I Think)?

Fuck here I am, knowing that Roland Emmerich is Koj's favorite director, and I never pieced that together. Time to rewatch Universal Soldier too I guess.

Ain't never seen a Mission: Impossible film before so started on the very first one last night. Desperately hate how you can tell a 90s film is from the 90s, the age is starting to show, but it was a fun film.

Just started watching the original Blade Runner before playing Kojima's Snatcher. I also wanted to watch the Escape from New York too but I have no idea what streaming service it is on.

Have you seen these films before? It is really fun seeing where Kojima got the influence for so many of his games.

Escape From New York is available on MUBI in the UK. PM’d you a link in case that helps you.

Just finished episode 3. This is the most insane television ever financed and I have no idea how Fielder got HBO to bankroll this at all, let alone in an age of cuts.

Watched the first 3 eps of S2 last night. Hadn’t watched any of his stuff before really but this show is nuts. Episode 3 especially was hilarious.

I think episode 3 is one of the greatest pieces of television I've ever seen. Season 2 is absolutely phenomenal. I recommend everyone watches it at some point. The finale is also spectacular. He cannot top what he's done.

Season 1 is worth your time as is "Nathan for You."

I finished season 2 shortly after making that post and it really was brilliant. Definitely one of the best things I’ve seen on TV in a long time.

I’ve since gone back and watched 2 episodes of Season 1 and 2 episodes of Nathan For You. Both are very funny and I’m gonna continue with them but they’re especially interesting to observe as what springboarded him into a position where he was able to make Season 2. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone double down and improve on their own formula in such an impressive way.

I’m not normally one to recommend stuff to people that strongly but I’ve already told several friends that they have to watch Season 2.

Watched F1, really enjoyed it. Audiovisually fantastic and the soundtrack is solid too. Plot is fairly straightforward but it fits the movie. Was a bit surprised that we didn't see more of the likes of Hamilton or other drivers that were more involved in the making of it, quite impressed that they weren't shoehorned into speaking roles as I took that happening as a given.

I need to see it but I have no enthusiasm for it (I can't do Drive To Survive because it's just...contrived?).

There are a few things (one section in particular) you'd need to be lenient with if familiar with the sport in terms of realism, certainly utilises a few tropes too. But I enjoyed it. I haven't watched Drive to Survive but it seems like that is an over-dramatising of the reality of some real-life events, while this is a fictitious storyline within the real setting of F1. I have an interest in DtS but it does seem like it is a bit heavy on that typical Netflix documentary style of being a bit over the top and stretching the realms of truth where they can, but that's probably unfair of me given I'm making a guess. At least this is simply its own storyline.
