Anyone a fan of Ace Combat? AC8 was probably the only thing I'm hyped for from tga (although I think a full-on remake of 3 would be way better).

I beat Metroid Prime 4 earlier today. Prime 1 is probably my favourite Nintendo game so I was really looking forward to this one.
It was mostly pretty solid with a few things that soured the experience a bit.
The last boss fight made me want to rip my hair out. I've never really enjoyed the boss battles in these games

I couldn't really enjoy Prime, loved it at first and exploring and the sense of discovery with it, but metroidvanias just aren't for me. I feel for anyone that loves the games and was eagerly awaiting this though as I've seen a huge amount of people saying it was very disappointing.

Wish me luck as I grind out 500 battles today to get one of the last trophies of Final Fantasy 8

I wouldn't say I was disappointed by it but i t's definitely a step down compared to the older ones. It DID make me want to start a new game in Prime 1 again after beating it, which is still a damn fine game imo
I've also been playing the shit out of Terminator 2D: No Fate the last week or so. It's really addicting and they did a good job of gameifying key parts of the movie

After years of searching I finally found Leelee's copy of Animal Crossing New Leaf FUCK YEAH. I was going to rebuy it for her recently because she tore through the room to try get it and I thought the save/island data was on the system but @Dirty Duck told me it was on the cartridge so I gave up. I tried searching through every box we brought to where we are now before Christmas but only got through half of them because there's so much other junk around and she was convinced it wasn't there anyway. Checked the other half and found the box yesterday. Then I opened it up and it was EMPTY. But I had come across boxes of DS games she had from when she was a kid like Imaginext and something told me to check them and the very last one had a rattling New Leaf in it. I used to watch her play this and would fall asleep to it a lot, sounds awkward with a portable console but surprisingly wasn't.

I've been trying to get into Escape From Tarkov but I've died some bullshitty deaths and I feel like most of my time has been spent watching loading screens. It does seem really cool but there's annoying stuff like the health system that makes me a bit hesitant to play it again
I've also been slowly making it through the remastered Tomb Raider games. I recently beat The Last Revelation and Chronicles. I'm up to Angel of Darkness (which was critically panned at the time and almost killed the franchise) but I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's definitely not as fun as games 1-5

Still playing through Ghost of Yotei. Really, really struggling to connect to this.
PS:
Spoiler:
I really don't like Atsu as a character and how railroaded the story is. I get that it's meant to be a story about a woman who's closed herself off to the world slowly re-connecting to it; and finding meaning in her life through the connections she forms and the people she befriends. What I'm struggling with is how rail-roaded the narrative is and how there's zero player agency. I hated that Atsu just...forgives the Oyuki. I hate that she forgives Jubei after he says that he doesn't know her any more and that he doesn't want to. I get that it's trying to challenge hyper-independence after suffering unimaginable trauma; but it's just....urgh. I tried shooting traitor lady with arrows and nothing happened, not even a game over.World is gorgeous, gameplay is solid but the characters and story are lacking imo.
Let me do the toxic things and kill the woman who murdered my parents. I don't care if she sacrifices herself with her death (which the story seems to be suggesting with the constant 'I can never atone for what I've done' narrative). This uh...isn't my cup of tea when it comes to narrative. I don't think Tsushima was this bad?

Spoiler:
"Children should never have to see such violence." FUCK OFF OYUKI

Observer: System Redux
It was a pretty cool experience but I had a few issues. The whole game is clearly a love letter to Blade Runner and they did a pretty good job of creating a similar aesthetic to the rundown apartment building from the end of the movie. However, I got tired of the "dream eater" nightmare sequences real fast. And the game is more or less a walking simulator. Overall I didn't love it but I'm glad that I played it from beginning to end at least once
